Completed Projects
W. Virginia
The Historic W. Virginia addition
- Project Objectives: To construct a new sitting room and screened in porch while retaining the historic charm of the original 1887 Victorian home.
- Architect: James West
- Scope of work: The careful construction of the addition with new materials to mirror the existing home. The addition is constructed on a steel frame set on helical piers which are drilled to a suitable sub-strata, approximately 12-14 ft deep. Every detail from the original house is mimicked in the addition. An original post was removed and used as a template for the hand-turned posts on the new porch. The finished porch railings are identical to the originals from the front porches, and the curved cedar brackets are custom-made to continue the arched theme around the home.
- Project Status: Completed
The addition and porch. Note the seamless transition between old and new sections of the house.
